Did he do something wrong? Did he just like Mufasa better? Did he hate him? Then Taka heard the grass rustling from behind him.“Taka, what are you doing out here?”Taka just looked up at his father, then he turned away and lowered his head and started to sob.“Taka, If you’re crying because of what I told you and your brother earlier I—”Taka shot around and stared his father in the eyes, tears rolling down his face. “Why not me?! Kovu was relieved… in a very odd sort of way. Somehow he felt as though he was growing up. But with a sort of Peter Pan policy— he never wanted to grow old. He didn’t necessarily want kids, but Boga was wonderful. Whatever these flickering thoughts were, he was growing them way too fast. He had to…

Sabini grinned broadly, her ears perking up. This was the first time she felt- truly happy around him. True, she did really care about him, but she was always feeling.. uneasy. And very full of conflicting emotions. But now, she had a strange feeling of being at ease. “Soo-” She paused, strolling up to him, a stunning smile still on her face- “What do two lions do all alone on a night like this?” She asked, winking a bit. Sex was obviously out of the question for tonight, but she still wanted to be in his company. 

“We.. could always go hunting. Or, take a walk..” His nostrils flared as he too, felt the uncertain movement in his lower stomach— one that often resulted from nervousness, or anxiety. He calmed down, ears perking forward as he saw her beautiful smile. He hadn’t seen it before, at least, not like this. She was glowing, and the light pattern of spots on her fur began to shimmer, like she was evolving into something even more than she was. Kovu would give anything to just be with her. Normally, he wasn’t this patient. 

“We could see what kind of nasty critters have gotten themselves into the marshes..” He smirked, with a wink.  

Sabini beamed, and turned towards the direction of the marshes, her expression briefly  darkening for a moment. “Sure thing, buuut when my fur gets all damp and muddy, don’t blame me when I get cross.” She mumbled, returning the wink. Truthfully, she didn’t mind getting “down and dirty”, but she didn’t quite like the fact that her long fur took hours upon hours to dry out. 

She usually liked racing her companions to their next destination, but now she took a leisurely stride beside Kovu, her pelt brushing against his every so often.

Kovu had grown up with females who were very masculine— in the way that, they hated getting dolled up. Some how, all the outsiders were still so hot, without in the least attempting look cute, or pretty. The same principles applied to Sabini. She was tough, and tumble, and she had something about her that made her gorgeous in her own.. anti-effeminate way. She was gorgeous— Kovu agreed. She was still very much female, and it showed.. but her dominant nature was probably what made the brown lion feel attracted to her in the first place. 

Kovu too, loved a good competition. But something about tonight said; it was not the day. His thick, black lashes rimmed the fur on his eyelids before he looked to the sky.  Before wandering in his mind, for too long, he turned to her and let his ears fall back as he spoke. 

“Can I ask you something?”
